Wartoto Case Adjourned

The Trial of Eremas Wartoto againstthe state has been adjourned till Novermber.

 

A five day trial was set to go ahead yesterday; however,the prosecution filed a late application requesting for an adjournment

Lead Prosecutor Camillo Sambua said new evidence against Mr Wartoto had just come totheir attention andthey needed more time to confirm its credibility.

 

Mr Wartoto’s Defense led by Levinte Jureth saidthe prosecution has wasted enough time and money in prolongingthe case and it’should be dismissed.

 

Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika blastedthe prosecution and almost did not allowthe case to continue, asthe proper channel of filing an application was not followed.

 

However, he said since this case is of great public interestohe allowed a two month adjournment.

 

The new trial date is set for Novermber 11th tothe 22nd 2013.
