Computer Society: Meeting of IT Professionals

A seminar in Port Moresby has been toldthe introduction of mobile phones has had a major impact oPNG’s political, economic, and social landscapes.

This was revealed atthPNG Computer Society’s second quarter seminar.

The Society is made up of ITProfessionals inthe country with a commitment to support colleagues.

ITprofessionals from various organizations met today for the second time this year as part ofthe society’s annual quarterly meetings.

Today’s seminar focused on some ofthe latest trends in ITslowly being introduced in PNG’such as “Cloud Hosting” andthe fast developing &ldquoInternet Technology.”

Gabriel Keuma oftheInternational TrainingInstitute presented his study, sayingthe mobile phone boom had assisted economic developmentoand providedthe opportunity for closer scrutiny on government accountability.

He added mobile phones had serious implications on social development giventhe high usage amongst school students’and youths. These youths, more than ever before have the internet attheir fingertips, with most users on social websit’s like facebook.
