Care Centre looks after Lae’s street kids

By Colleen Barilae – EM TV News, Lae

Lae’s Catholic diocese Street Children Care Centre has been a volunteer organisation looking after children who roam the streets of the city.

Parish Priest, Fr Arnold Schmitt, says the Street Children Care Centre has been providing food, water and clothes.

The care centre also runs a literacy program for the children.

The Catholic-run child care centre is situated in the Lae Catholic Diocese church premises.

The parish also works to equip the less fortunate children with basic education programs all year long.

The care centre provides a literacy program for a few girls and boys- it’s to keep them away from crime.

The street children care centre continues to seek financial assistance from bigger business houses to help its operations.
