Butterfield Praises PNG Rugby League

Former PNG Kumuls hooker, Tommy Butterfield, has praised the work done by PNG Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) and the government in raising the standard of the code in Papua New Guinea.

Butterfield was amazed by the new facilities at the National Football Stadium.

Born in Alotau, Butterfield now plays for Easts Tigers in the Queensland Intrust Super Cup, and captained the Tigers against the Hunters in Sunday’s game at the National Football Stadium.

He plays as a hooker and is a Papua New Guinea international who was previously contracted to the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL.

Butterfield was amazed with how much the former Lloyd Robson Oval has changed over the years.

He praised Michael Marum and the work done with the Hunters and the PNG Kumuls.
