No foreign tourists of the cruise vessel Pacific Aria, were involved in an armed robbery in the tourist township of Alotau this morning.
Sea cruise company P&O Cruises Australia, this afternoon released a statement confirming that all passengers of the Pacific Aria were accounted for, and that following reports of the armed robbery, all shore tours were ordered back to the ship, and immediate steps were taken to bring all other passengers and crew back on board.
P&O also confirmed that eight remaining passengers were returning from an independent local boat tour to a nearby island.
The company said once all remaining eight passengers were on board, the Pacific Aria will depart for the Trobriand Islands, and its next scheduled call to remote Kitava Island.
The Pacific Aria is currently on a 10-night cruise to PNG destinations, including the Milne Bay district, and the Trobriand Islands.
