MELBOURNE (Reuters) – Almandin, ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, won the 156th version of the A$6.2 million (4 million pound) Melbourne Cup at Flemington racecourse on Tuesday.
Heartbreak City finished second in the 3,200 metre handicap with favourite Hartnell third.
