Kavieng Diocese Investments

The Kavieng Catholic Diocese is investing on its portion 50 land title in Kavieng Town, to sustain its service delivery.

According to Bishop of the Catholic Diocese, Ambrose Kiapseni, this project will be monitored by the Proposed Development Committee, initiated by the Kavieng Diocese land board.

On August 18, the Proposed Development Committee was commissioned to oversee these projects.
These investments will sustain the work of the diocese and its institutions like health and education in New Ireland, Manus and Duke of Yolk Island in East New Britain.

“We have begun the process by kindly requesting those who are settling on these lands to evacuate.

“We have engaged experts to come and look at this,” Bishop Ambrose said.

Chairman of the Proposed Development Committee, Steven Lavarabin, says the committee will implement these sustainable projects from Rawal to the seaside.

“We are working under our five year pastoral plan. It’s our timeframe that we will have to implements these plans for our self-sustenance,” Lavarabin said.

Kavieng is the first diocese in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to be localised.

The first K30,000 has been presented to Star Engineering Services Limited that will facilitate this project.

Star Engineering Services Limited’s, Phanuel Kaboro, received this money on behalf of the company and said they will work closely with the church in partnership to develop their plan.
