Pini to Improve Time

Papua New Guinea’s swimming sensation Ryan Pini will be looking at taking part in the World Swimming Championship short course event later this year in Canada. Following the Rio Olympics, Pini has set his sights on competing in the 50 metre butterfly, which was not an event in the Olympics.

Pini represented PNG in the 100m butterfly event, where he missed out on qualifying for the finals, clocking a time of 53.24 seconds.

He is ranked 30th in the world in the 100m butterfly, and he plans to take part in the 13th FINA World Swimming Championships.

The swimming championships will take place in a 25m pool, and start on December 6. Pini’s 50m butterfly time is ranked as one of the best. Because there was no 50m butterfly event during the Olympics, he would like to improve on his 5om time during the short course championships.
