Football Kids Awarded

Well it may not be the Olympics, but young children being awarded for various prizes during the School’s Football presentation ceremony were just as enthusiastic as those gold medal winners in Rio.

Over the weekend, School’s Football end of season awards were presented, and included the Most Improved and Fair Play awards.

Students from Sacred Heart, Boroko Salvations, Koki Primary, Koroboro International and Cheshire Homes were all present for the ceremony held at the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex on Saturday.

Divisions ranging from under six through to the under 16 groups posed for photos amidst the excitement of trophies being received.

Teacher’s representative Abdurrahman Aydin, Principal of Paradise High, stressed the importance of educated sport men and women in Papua New Guinea. The school’s football competition ran for two months, the concept, involving younger players and teaching concepts of spatial awareness and ball control.

Countries such as the Solomon Islands and Brazil have long adopted the program, which has seen them reach World Championships, and World Cup finals respectively.
