Buimo Inmates Celebrate Independence Day

by Colleen Barilae – EM TV News, Lae

Inmates at Lae’s Buimo Jail had a late independence celebration this week. The jail camp was cheerful following this year’s 40th independence celebrations.

Correctional Service officers were also part of the day’s event, which included a gospel music concert followed by a string of other fun activities.

Lae MP, Loujaya Kouza, when speaking at the day’s celebrations said youth empowerment in Lae continues to be the district’s aim of enhancing youth in society.

She said this following a number of youth empowerment activities that the MP has supported over the years to enhance Lae community youths.

Though small, the celebration attracted musical presentations from both male and female inmates present during the event.

This is one of the many national events that inmates continue to observe despite being behind bars.
