Local Level Government (LLG) Presidents in the North Fly electorate in Western Province are living in suspense after their MP, Boka Kondra, was suspended from office.
Kondra was found guilty by a leadership tribunal on six counts of misappropriation and was suspended from office in April this year.
The Ningerum LLG President, Kawuk Konmop, said this has affected the establishment of their District Development Authority (DDA) replacing the Joint District Planning and Budget Priority Committee (JDP and BPC).
“We want the Office of the Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs to help us solve this issue and we can roll out our DDA priorities,” Konmop said.
He said the situation has dragged on for nine months and is affecting service delivery in the electorate.
The Ningerum President said while the seat remains unoccupied, the government is making decisions about oil and gas and mining in the electorate.
This relates most importantly to discussions surrounding the upcoming Panang LNG project.
“We want the courts to clear our MP as soon as possible,” he said.
