Papua New Guineas Women’s Micro Bank Limited has continued to encourage the SME sector to venture into business.
This follows the opening of its new office at Aopi Centre in Port Moresby today.
This office will provide convenient banking services through savings, loans lending, fixed deposits and micro insurance services to its customers.
Several customers, especially those engaged in the SME sector, were present to do their banking, and witnessed the launching of the bank’s new office.
Among them were Women’s Micro Bank Founder and successful business woman, Janet Sape, Small Business Entrepreneurs and employees of the Women’s Micro Bank.
Small Business entrepreneurs, Elizabeth Joanis and Evelyn Ola, who have been benefiting from the bank’s services said this bank has been supporting them big time.
Elizabeth Joanis, a vendor from Western Highlands Province, has saved up to K10,000 by selling tobacco at Gordons Market, borrowed K25,000 from the bank in April this year, to buy a car which is now operating taxi services in the city.
Another vendor, Evelyn Ola, from Southern Highlands Province had borrowed K25,000 from the bank to buy a car after saving up to K27,000 by selling apples at Gordons Market. She also runs a taxi service in Port Moresby.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the Women’s Micro Bank, Women’s Micro Bank CEO, Thusari Hewapathirana, said this office will continue to provide extensive and convenient banking services.
The Women’s Micro Bank is one of five Micro Bank operating in the country servicing over 14,000 customers operating through agents offices in Lae, Madang, Wewak and Maprik.
