Land grabbing has become an issue in Papua New Guinea.
A recent case in Port Moresby is a portion of land at Mapai Street, Hohola.
The land title holder, Thomas Phillar, told EM TV News that the land accommodates an education institution, Pacific Institute of Applied Socio Economic and Technical Studies.
Thomas Phillar is the Executive Director and is the owner of Pacific Institute of Applied Socio Economic Technical Studies.
Phillar claims, he is the title holder of the portion of land; sections 28 and 27; allotments 13, 83 and 88.
Yesterday, he realised a private surveyor engaged by NCDC, resurveyed portions of land at Mapai Street which he has a title over. He says this was illegal.
He said this portion of land accommodates an institution educating over 2,000 students across the country.
Hohola Community leaders, Andy Paguali and Jackson Nigini said the whole community is having a positive view of this institution, providing adequate educational services.
Mr Phillar condemned actions of those who had illegally operated outside the scope of law.
