Air Niugini Flights to Japan Increase

by Merilyn Diau-Katam – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The national government has come on board in supporting Air Nuigini to promote PNG’s tourism packages in Japan.

Today, Acting Minister for Tourism and Culture, Hon. Charles Abel, on behalf of the state, presented K5 million to Air Nuigini to roll out its Special Tourism Zone Initiative.

Not only that, but two weekly flights enhance business relationships and increase opportunities between both countries.

“The Government is committed to growing the tourism sector and particularly in selling Papua New Guinea as an attractive tourist destination building on our unique cultures and our national environment,” said Minister Abel.

Part of it is increasing direct international flights into PNG’s domestic sectors.

Air Nuigini Chief Executive Officer, Simon Foo, said the national carrier was pleased to support the government’s initiative.

Also present was PNG Explorers International Founder, Hideo Kamioka, who established his tourism company to promote Papua New Guinea to Japan.
