A group of business women attended an entrepreneurship workshop today which focused on how to create demand and build their businesses.
United States expert on women’s entrepreneurship, Samira Cook Gaines, is leading the workshops in Port Moresby and Lae this week.
She is giving women entrepreneurs insights and skills they need to get ahead in business.
The workshop was all about innovation for success.
The workshops which will happen this week build on Ms Gaines first visit to PNG in 2013, where she noticed a lot of the same type of businesses.
The workshop therefore was conducted to address this trend, and get business women to start thinking creatively about their individual businesses
The common challenge for women with businesses was around understanding their customers, so marketing is key.
Ms Gaines got participants to think about what the market looks like; and, what their customers really need.
