Asian Businessman Robbed Along The Laloki Road

A Chinese man lost his money and other personal items after he was robbed by criminals on Wednesday, December 28.

The incident occurred between 11 and 12 noon, along the Laloki Road in Central Province, while he was on his way to Port Moresby for his business runs.

They attacked him using high powered firearms.

Police and a EMTV News crew arrived on site, and were told by eyewitnesses of the incident involving the Chinese man.

Alphonse Charlie told EMTV that when he saw the vehicle used in the robbery driving up and down, the road he knew that something was wrong.

“I was sitting down with my son when all of a sudden vehicles started hitting each other,” he said.

“Armed with firearms, they came out from one of the vehicles, got the bags of money bags and drove away,” he said

A vehicle belonging to a prominent lawyer was also hit because it was on the road at the time of the incident. However, no injuries were sustained.

Kaigo Maganem, the passenger told EMTV that they had no idea of what was going on until their vehicle was hit.

“Our vehicle was spinning in a circle when it was hit by the criminal vehicle,” he said.

Reports of this incident have been registered with the Boroko Police Station.

Two of the police officers that were at the scene, said that it was a fast get-away; and the crime is still under investigation.
