The annual Prime Minister’s XIII match between PNG and Australia is set for next month, and Chairman for the PNGRFL, Sandis Tsaka, has said the PNG team will be selected following the Intercity Cup grand final.
This year’s Prime Minister’s XIII will see local based players given the opportunity to represent Papua New Guinea, with selection being done via not only the intercity cup but also the national championships where the four confederates are currently conducting their trials.
Following the conclusion of these competitions, the selected team will head into two-week long training camp to fine tune their prep for the match up against the Aussies.
Papua New Guinea is yet to win a Prime Minister’s XIII match, the closest they have come being in 2007 when they managed to snatch a draw.
