There are fresh hopes for the PNG Hunters players to secure spots in the NRL Competition, if the Papua New Guinea Rugby League secures a deal with the NRL club, Penrith Panthers.
Panthers General Manager, Phil Gould, with his compatriots are currently in Port Moresby to watch the match between the Hunters and the Wynnum Manly Seagulls scheduled at 2:30p.m today.
Penrith Panthers is the first ever club in Australia to reach out and offer PNG rugby league players the opportunity to have a shot in the NRL Competition.
There are also hopes of creating a pathway for the PNG junior players, for a long term partnership and joint memberships.
This partnership is also a learning experience from the club’s governance and management structures.
And, their off the field development programs which PNGRFL believes will add value to rugby league in the country.
Further discussions will be held to embrace these opportunities.
