Pacific Games Security Personnel Demand Payment for Services

by Shane Saroya – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

On Friday, over 300 security volunteers turned up at the NCD City Hall, demanding payment for their services during the Pacific Games.

They claim that they were promised payment for their services by the Governor’s Office and they would be paid through Laima Security Services.

Their spokesperson Christine Thomas, said they have been sacrificing their time and effort and atleast a form recognition will be appreciated. Some of them expressed their frustration and dissatisfaction to Laima Security Service and the office of NCD City hall for not upholding their promise.

In response to the complaints NCD City Hall Executive Officer Mr. Terence Moka said, the payments were made today and is in due process.

Mr. Moka further stated that NCD City Hall and the governors officers have done their part by paying the money to Laima Security Service as promised and now it’s the Security Contractor’s obligation to settle the payments.

The Managing Director of Laima Security Service Mr. Alo Kiap said the governor’s office had made payment and the Volunteers should not continue to protest as they will be paid accordingly in due time.
