Mother Raise Concern Over Appalling Treatment By Lae Police Officers

by Colleen Barilae – EM TV News, Lae

A mother of five has raised concerns about the way a police officer evicted her children out of their family home on the 26th of June this year.

The mother, Nauna Pondrilei, from Manus describes the actions by a few Lae policemen as ‘inhumane’.

Widow, Nauna Pondrilei, and her five children were kicked out of a house they occupied for thirteen years.

They have been living with their neighbour, in front of their lawn, for over one week.

Her belongings, including her children’s, have been stored under a make-shift.

The house that is today in dispute was bought by Nauna’s family in 2002 however the title was changed by a state declaration.

Her children have been sleeping on bedroom beds under a make- shift tent for the past 13 days.

Nauna Pondrilei claims that an eviction notice was served to her family late last month to evict the Cormorant Street house on cassowary road.

The grandmother of four is appalled by the actions of several Lae policemen.
