Atlas Steel Branch Manager, Peter Browne says his company is ready to deliver the government’s housing program.
A national program aimed at assisting Papua New Guineans to own their own homes.
Atlas Steel will be building steel houses, while Concrete Builders and PNG Forest Products will construct brick and timber houses respectively.
With the recent launch of the Housing Program, Browne is confident to deliver the government’s housing project.
He said his team of builders are aiming to build at least five houses every week.
The construction of houses has commenced. They will be built in frames, and later be assembled together.
The program recently launched by Lands and Physical Planning Minister, Benny Allan, creates an opportunity for public servants to own their own homes.
It is jointly coordinated through the Office of Urbanisation, through the Planning and Monitoring Department and the Lands and Physical Planning Department.
Once constructed, Papua New Guineans can buy and own houses through a 40-year loan with Bank South Pacific.
This project remains one of the government’s priorities, and is a positive step towards building the standards of public servants in the country.
