Thailand’s first female Prime Minister was inthe country to forge stronger trade relations withPNG.

Yinluck Shinawatra and Prime Minister Peter O’Neill signed a Memorandum of Understanding to plotthe path forward.

Prime Minister Yingluck Sinawatra arrived on Sunday to full formalities of a VIP.

On Monday she headed straight for parliament after a courtesy call onthe governor general.

There she was met by speaker Theo Zuerenouc and was later escorted tPM :eter O’Neill.

The two lLeadersheld bilateral talks behind closed doors. Later a Memorandum of understanding wasthen signed bythe two foreign affairs ministers oPNG and Thailand with Prime Ministerslooking on.

Ms Sinawatrathen paid a visit tothe University of Papua New Guinea There books from Thailand were donated for the Thai Corner. They are to encourage students’to learn more about Thailand.

Chancellor of UPNG Steven Pokawin announced thatthe university was beginning to embrace Asia as an economic power.

The Prime ministers programme ended with a meeting withthe business community. The Port Moresby Chamber of Business and commerce andthe Thailand Chamber of Business and commerce signed an MOU.

Thailand is looking to offer its expertise in construction amidst ther trade.
