A record number of people, mostly subsistence farmers flocked tothe Bebia research station onthe outskirts of Lae to withnessthe NARI Agricultural innovative show.
Apart fromthe Morobe’show,the NARI innovative show is one ofthe ther big Agricultural events inthe Momase region.
Farmers came fromthe seven highlands provinces, Madang andthe New GuineaIsland to participate inthe event.
It’s a show that has been nurtured overthe years bythPNG’s leading agency in scientific research.
The agriculture show is designed to equip locaPNG farmers with new innovative agricultural methods, of how to cultivate and manage crop and livestock.
The event also coincided withthe official opening of a new national biotech laboratory, launched by deputy Prime Minister Leo Dion, and ther dignitaries, Don Polye and former Morobe governor, Lther Wenge.
It’s an ideal infrastructure that appreciatesthe need to improverthe level of crop production by local farmers and improver food security and self-reliance.
A significant portion oPNG’s estimated 7.5 million men, women and children live in rural areas. They growtheir own food to eat and sell.
The NARI show has also highlighted howthe latest agriculture innovations will assist local farmers in a big way. It also comes asthe PNC convention discusses agriculture and small business growth.
