JSB Meeting: ABG and State Agree on Next Step Forward

The recent Joint Supervisory Bady meeting conducted in Kokopo bythe National Government andthe Autonomous Bougainville Government reached several recommendations.

 

Top onthe agenda wasthe SpecialIntervention Fund that has caused much debate by lLeadersin recent weeks.

Underthe Peace Agreement,the National Government is expected to release One Hundred Million kina every year for the restoration and development grant.

 

Recent debate by members of parliament and ABe members have centered onthe failure to submit acquittals for these funds not been submitted.

 

The recent meeting’s function was to oversee implementation ofthe Peace agreement.

 

Speaking atthe meeting, ABe Vice President Patrick Nisira highlighted thatthere were outstanding grants to be settled bythe national government.

 

The National government represented by Deputy Prime Minister Leo Dion admitted thatthere may have been a shortfall.

 

However, both governments agreed for a joint committee to work outthe exact amount to be settled bythe national government.

 

Beth lLeadershave agreed to work more closely to implement key financial, infrastructure and public service transfer issues in relation tothe JSBe ndorsed mechanisms.
