Dame Carol Kidu to Write New Book

Retire politician Dame Carol Kidu is considering writing anther book after being asked by an international publisher to write about her life in politics.

 

She said this when giving a presentation on her first book ‘A Remarkable Journey’, which was written as a tribute to her late husband, Sir Beri Kidu.

ThPNG Society of Writers, Editors & Publishers presentation was a part ofthe Australia Week, supported bythe Australian High Commission.

 

Dame Carol made her presentation this week in Port Moresby, atthe University oPNG’s main lecturetheatre.

 

She talked about her first book and emphasisedthe importance of writing and recording things. For her, a remarkable journey, was a grieving process afterthe death of her husband, anPNG’s first indigenous Chief Justice, Sir Beri Kidu.

 

The presentation was an Australia Week event where submissions for the Crocodile Prize were also encouraged. The Crocodile Prize isthe highest prestigious literary award in PNG that’s giving opening up opportunities, like for Martin Namorong, who wasthe inaugural Essay category winner.

There are 7 categories: Short stories, poetry, heritage writing, essay, for primary & high school students’ women and lifetime achievement. Entries can be sent tothe email, crocodileprize@gmail.com.
