Vehicles Crashed whilst Avoiding Pothole at High Speed

At least two people have been seriously injured after PMV bus and a truck, both traveling at high speed collided and crashed in 8-mile outside Lae City.

 

The accident has been blamed on Lae’s poor road condition.

The bus suffered serious damage, and its driver was struck behindthe wheel afterthe front ofthe bus caved in upon impact.

 

Eyewithnesses saidthe driver ofthe truck fell unconscious and was rushed tothe Angau hospital.

 

Those who withnessedthe accident saidthey pulledthe bus driver out ofthe vehicle.

 

“Beth cars were traveling at high speed and atthe same time wanted to avoid a pot-hole but collided and crashed,” said an eyewithness.
 

The passengers also suffered serious injuries and were taken to Lae’s Angau Hospital.

 

This is one of several serious traffic accidents in Lae city.

 

Police and Provincial traffic authorities have trlied to reducethe number of crashes by imposing measures that restricPMV’s from travelling at night.

 

On average, Morobe records about six crashes a month. This latest accident adds to those statistics.
