After more than a decade of unprecedented grows,the United Nation has issued a dawning report oPNG’s Human Development.
It placedthe country last inthe Asia Pacific region in its 2013 Report.
Planning Minister Charles Abel announcedthe bad news atthe launch ofthe report and said it is very disappointing to learn about this whilstthe country is embracing economy growth.
The playing field is unevenPNG has embraced economy boom inthe last ten years particularly inthe resource sector, however, in terms of human development we’re last.
The international average Human Development index stands at 0.694%. The Asia Pacific region recorded a 0.683%. AlarminglyPNG rated last inthe Asia Pacific region with 0.466%.
The team fromthe United Nation’s Development Program alerted this tothe minister beforethe launch.
It is called,the rise ofthe south and it is about human development in a diverse world.
The UN highlighted tothe minister that areas that need more focus are; job creation, prioritize health care and education, women empowerment amongst thers.
Minister Abel assuredthe UN, foreign missions and departmental heads present that government will use this report as a guide in decision making.
