United Resource Party Hosts First Gala Dinner

By Annette Kora – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was the guest of honor at last night’s Gala Dinner for the United Resource Party, the second largest party in the current coalition.

He arrived late for the formalities but went ahead to highlight the government’s intention of signing the second gas agreement in April this year.

The Prime Minister also commended the report made by the World Bank of PNG’s financial management.

Despite recent challenges like the Paladin Issue involving PNG and Australia, floods causing havoc and frustrated teachers on their delayed entitlements, the Prime Minister said PNG had a bright future and that by June 2019, the government will complete the Wafi- Golpu Agreement which will also be a world-class development for the country.

And United Resource Party as a partner in government is working with the Peoples National Congress Party to protect the benefits and rights of the citizens of the country.

Sharing similar sentiments, URP Party leader and Minister for State Enterprises & State Investment, William said URP is committed and loyal to PNC and its coalition partners.

He said PNG is a difficult country to govern and as coalition partners, the relationship of both parties has stood through the test of times assuring the Prime Minister that as far as the United Resource Party is concerned, it will continue to stand firm with the Prime Minister to make PNG’s development goals a reality.
