The final Commission ofInquiry report intothe University of Technology was handed over to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill yesterday.
The six member team of investigators looked sharp in black aPM’s conference room at parliament house yesterday.
Lead investigator Mark Sevua outlined tothPM :hatthe investigation did not solely focus on UNITECH. A comparative analysis was done to get a better grasp as to why many state institutions were not performing to expectations.
That involved interviews with private run institutions like Divine Word University andthe Pacific Adventist University that have a high success rate.
The main recommendation was for better administration in Governance and Management.
The inquirers were given only two month to executethe report. A time framethey believe was not adequate.
They also commented thatthey basically performthe same function as judges butthe difference was withnesses were not subjected to oath.
O’Neill saidtheir role was to get tothe truth and commendedthem for completingthe report despitethe tight time frame.
He agreedthere was a need to rebuild state institutions and said
