New Forensics Equipment Will Help Identify Criminals

The National Forensic Science Services has received vital finger printing equipment fromthe Australian Federal Police on Monday.

This equipment will help identify criminals inthe country.

It is also in line withthe Royal Papua New Guineamodernization program.

Chief of Police forensic science services Philip Rambaliku says this is a timely assistance bythe Australian Federal Police.

He said thoughthe police force is undergoing modernization but it is still not up to standard. Crime Scene investigations have been hampered due to lack of vital equipment’s.

He saidthe national government has allocated K3.1m to refurbishthe National Forensic Science Services building. Construction is expected to begin soon.

Mr. Rambaliku saysthere is also a needed for a forensic data system. Currently, 1800 criminal records are in hard copy.
