Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has refuted claims that he has interfered inthe investigation of a law firm alleged to have received illegal payments fromthe government.
He saidthe investigation is being done independently and arrests will be made shortly.
The investigation is headed by Task Force Sweep, with assistance fromthe Australian Federal Police, andInterpol.
Last week, opposition leader Belden Namah described Prime Minister O’Neill’s decision to appoint himself as Police Minister as inappropriate and suspicious.
He said this in light of a corruption case, which is being investigated, and wherethe opposition is allegingthe involvement ofthe Prime Minister.
Mr Namah also questioned whther alleged cases of money laundering into Australia where being investigated properly.
Mr O’Neill has asserted thatthe letters were forgeries, and directed an investigation intothe matter.
He also saidInvestigations in money laundering have been independent.
