National Development Bank Launches Mobile Banking

SMS Banking has gained a great deal of interest in the world with over 70 % of the world’s population, now having access to this service.

 

With that percentage of SMS users, the National Development Bank (N.D.B) officially launched its SMS banking services today.

The service free of charge is the first of many more services the bank will be providing for its customers.

 

With 20 branches and almost two million customers in the country the National Development bank is embarking on mobile banking.

 

The bank launched its SMS banking services today to provide quality banking for its customers, especially those in the rural areas.

 

Acting Managing Director of the National Development Bank Moses Liu, says this is the first step in providing value added banking for its customers as well as keeping up with the change in technology and communication.

 

This service will help customers save time and money as well as promoting banking services provided by NDB in the community.

 

The service is currently available to Digicel subscribers but will soon include other telecommunication agencie, providing mobile banking like other commercial banks in the country.

 

Benefits to customers include free notification three days before loan amount is due, free monthly update on the customer’s account, and arrears notification.

This is the first stage of a full range of electronic banking services that the National Development Bank will be providing for its customers.

 

N.D.B will soon be opening four new offices in Kiunga, Kerema, Vanimo and Lorengo.
