PNG Power replaces Nadzab’s oldest underground cable

PNG Power is on track to fixing a small part of Lae’s power problems.

PNG power teams uneathed a forty year old cable, replacing it with a brand new one which will ensure that power supply remains uninterrupted.

This underground cable burlied in 1972 atthe end ofthe Nadzab airport sawthe light of day again after forty years.

The technical teams had showed on camera wherethe cables had burned out last Wednesday causing power outages to Nadzab airport and residents alongthe highway to Mutzing.

This is a small but significant investment thatthe company’s growth in Lae city andthe demands on power supply.

Atthe end ofthe month, power supply tothe airport will be restored butthe company still has to show off ther potential problems of aging equipmentoinfrastructure and blackouts.
