A remote school inthe Dei District ofthe Western Highlands province has changed its name, after it felt a certain tribesman has earnedthe right to havethe school named after him.
Prominent accountant Watt Kiddie of Watt Kiddie and Associates was bestowedthe honour of havingthe Molga bottom up Primary School take up his name.
The school is located inthe Muglamp LLG ofthe Dei electorate inthe Western Highlands Province (WHP).
It has a population of about 15,000 people.
Celebrations ofthe name change were attended by Vice Minister for Education Gisuwat Siniwin, Education representatives of WHP, and founder of Muglap bottom up primary.
School kids welcomedthe delegation in a colorful ceremony.
The message tothe people of Muglamp was simple. It is for them to have a vision and plans to achievetheir objectives.
The Vice Minister announced a three hundred thousand kina funding formthe National Government
Hethen declaredthe school ‘Watt Kiddie Bettom Up Primary’. Watt Kiddie is a local and has contributed immensely tothe growth ofthe school.
“I providethe wisdom, lLeadersip inthe last 30 years and that’s my recognition…I will still continue to do it,” said Kiddie.
Education Advisor for Western Highlands Stanely Maip encouragedthe community to be independent ifthey want to live a meaningful life.
Mr. Watt Kiddie’s dream for the school is that it eventually caters for more technical skills.
“I’ve got a dream for the school that’s going to become a reality, but we’re just starting,” he said.
