Lands begin drives to improve public perception

The Department ofLands and Physical Planning has begun major reforms under new Secretary Romily Kila Pat.

Key areas to patch up are loopholes withinthe department that are prone to corrupt activities.

2013 couldn’t be any worse andthe year is not yet over as allegations of illegal land deals continue.

Newly appointed Secretary Romilly Kila Pat saidthe department has noted every controversy and are taking necessary measures are being taken.

Three major issues have been highlighted by Mr Pat. They include a structural or capacity reform; Legislative reforms; andthe computerization ofthe departments systems & processes. This should be in place whenthey mover in totheir new building.

Mr Pat says his biggest concern is thatthe bulk ofthe people do not have accurate information.

He says he has an open door policy and wants to talk tothe people regarding any issue on land.
