Pepetua Rau, aged 13 was hit by a truck, a Toyota Fifth Elementotoday atthe Hohola freeway. She was rushed tothe hospital with a broken leg.
Three people were inthe vehicle, two men and a woman, believed to be drunk atthe time.
Pepetua was on her way tothe Malaoro market to sell coconuts at around 12 noon today when she was hit.
The two men who were inthe vehicle atthe time ofthe accident werethere atthe scene however,the woman escaped. The vehicle is believed to bethe property of a police officer.
Pepetua Rau from Koiari, Central Province, was on her way tothe market with her small brther Keopas, and older sister Leotin whenthe car hit her andthen went offthe road and into a ditch.
According to Keopas, he saidthey were shocked because it all happened so fast. He quickly ran to get his eldest sister Patricia tothe scene.
After getting an x-ray atthe Port Moresby General Hospital, Pepetua is confirmed to have a dislocated bone in her left leg. No comments were made onthe suspects bythe Police as proper investigations are yet to be carrlied out.
Another reported accident was atthe Waigani traffic lights at around 5:30am this morning, where two vehicles crashed into each ther, resulting withthe injury of two men.
