G4S Securities Mass Resignation

Over 100 drivers fromthe G4S Security Company went on a mass resignation yesterday over outstanding staff grievances.

 

Operations came to a halt whenthe drivers went on strike and resigned.

The strike took place outsidethe Esso Highlands Limited Fleet Headquarters in Downtown Port Moresby.

 

Disgruntled staff of G4S went on a mass resignation and stopped operations.

 

They say this is notthe first timethey threatened to take this action.

 

“Our main intension is that we are fed up of working under G4S becausethe management is not concerned about our welfare…G4S is always using us for their own benefit,” said Sam Kora, Spokesperson.

Allthese drivers operate this fleet that transports Esso Highlands Staff and expatriates tothPNG LNG site outside Port Moresby.

 

They saythey have been doing this for the past four years, without any serious accidents.

However,they claimthey have not been properly compensated.

 

“We work for long hours, andthey pay us less,” said Sam.
 

Port Moresby Police Station Commander,Inspector Robert Kurei and Police officers arrived to controlthe situation.

 

EMTV requested for a comment from G4S and Esso Highlands management atthe scene; however,they refused.

 

 

However, a member ofthe drivers said G4S management had toldthem thatthey have resigned andthey have nothing futher to do withthem.

 

The drivers saidthey will return today to speak withthe management overthe issue and remuneration packages.
