The Constitutional Law Reform Commission (CLRC) launched its Corporate Plan on Friday after almost a decade of functioning without one.
CLRC has embarked on its nationwide inquiries as part of its mover to gauge views of communities as to whatthey propose to make as law.
With Government’support of K10 million fromthe National Planning DepartmentoCLRC will continue to carry out its inquiries from Central, Gulf and Sandaun Province.
CLRC is a Law Reform Agency for the Government that updates and proposes new laws to suit today’s context.
The organisers were disappointed when representatives from key government organizations were absent atthe launch.
However, that didn’trsquo;t stopthe Commission from launching its first ever Corporate Plan after 9 years. It was launched by Commission Chairman and Member for Tambul/Nebilyer, Benjamin Poponawa.
Mr Poponawa saidthe Commission was currently reviewingthe Organic Law on Provincial and Local Level Government.
Also present was Public Solicitor, Frazer Pitpit who reiterated that Corporate Plans are guidelines that assist organisations to achievetheir objectives. The Corporate Plan 2014 – 2018 developed by CLRC Management Team will helpthe Commission to mover forward.
CLRC Deputy Secretary, Isaiah Chillion, said in 2013the Commission received its first directive fromthe Governor General to commence its inquiry. Withthe government’s financial support,they can now fulfil this objective.
CLRC will also be traveling to West Sepik Province as part of its on-going awareness programs on its roles and responsibilities relating to Law.
