Internet for Southern Highlands Schools

Schools inthe Southern Highlands Province can now have access to updated information after Governor William Powi presented a K500, 000 to TelikoPNG.

The money will go towardsthe clean ITTechnology program run by Telikom Foundation for installation of internet for the twelve high schools inthe province.

Governor Powi met with TelikoPNG CEO, Charles Litau, and Telikom Foundation CEO, Brian Sam and senior managers.

Duringthe presentation Governor Powi saidthe province was in a restoration phase and he wanted to partner with state owned enterprises to complement that process.

The Clean ITProgram run by Telikom Foundation has become popular among many schools inthe country.

Telikom Foundation CEO Brian Sam said a team is already onthe ground and both Mendi High and Secondary Schools should have internet access withinthe next two weeks.

Telikom CEO Charles Litau told Governor Powi thatthe investment will strenthen ties betweenthe organization and his province.

Governor Powi reiterated that this was a priority underthe Master Development Plan.

A similar presentation was made tothe Police Commissioner on Tuesday, to boost law and order.
