All twenty prisons nationwide will receive an annual funding of four point eight million kina.

All prison and jail commanders now have Twenty Thousand kina each month for operational costofuel and maintenance and ther expenditure.

This is to will give commanders more flexibility to operate on day to day basis.

Commissioner Belthasar challenged all commanders to be transparent intheir spending and be more innovate to achieve maximum results for their prisons.

Withthe successful implementation of financial powers, provincial jails will make financial decisions independently.
