The Kabwum and Nawaeb Districts Sign Joint MoA

The people of Kabwum and Nawaeb are set to benefit from an agreement for projects between the two districts in Morobe Province.

The Kabwum MP, Bob Dadae, says the signing of the agreement will allow him and the Nawaeb MP, Gisuwat Siniwin, to start the initial developments for the projects.

“The agreement is between the two places with common objectives,” said Dadae.

The agreement will create the means to build a coffee mill and a fresh food depot for the two districts that produce most of Morobe’s Coffee.

This move will cement Morobe’s position as the third biggest coffee-producing province in Papua New Guinea

Over the years, Morobe Province has been lagging behind the Highlands because it did not have the facility to process coffee.

Much of the coffee was exported from Highlands and New Guinea Islands Suppliers to buyers.

The coffee mill will help with coffee processing that has not been done in the province in the past.

More is been done for the coffee industry by the provincial government after, Neknasi Coffee Cooperative made of 400 farmers acquired an organic coffee export license.
