Lae Schools have started independence celebrations with students’arriving in school dressed intheir traditional attire.
Students at St Mary’s primary school and Coronation College celebrated independence with a cultural show to coincide withthe country’s birthday on Monday.
Student’s also expressedtheir views aboutthe countries development.
Schools in and aroundthe city were in full traditional attire to start celebratingthe country’s 38thIndependence Dayon Monday.

While anther school in Lae City, Coronation College had its cultural show to coincide withtheIndependence Day
Students here saythey are very happy aboutthe country’s progress and are proud of whatthe nation has achieved.
A Coronation student Heidi Beloloi says she is proud ofthe country’s achievements, but she would like to see more improverments tothe Lae Roads.
“It has shown Papua New Guineahas come a long way… I am proud to be called a Papua New Guinea,” she said.
