ESP handed down its biggest budget ever

East Sepik provincial government handed down its biggest budget of K269 million last week.

This year, bulk of it will go towards education, with K45 million.

And teachers’ salaries are also top ofthe money plan.

K40 million has been budgeted for teachers’ salary, and K5 million for education infrastructure.

The provincial government is also investing more into public service by allocatingthe second largest slice ofthe budget of K20 million to staff grants.

Also,the Begia/Angoram road project is anther pending project that will receive K20 million. Three years ago,the government identifliedthe Begia/Angoram border as a “missing link” road. It was critical for economic and social growth.

Three ther road links in three districts will receive K2 million each for upgrade,the Hayfield airports in Maprik and Ambunti/Drekikir will get a million kina each, andthe Yangoru Police Barracks will get K1 million also for upgrade.

Each ofthe six districts will receive K4 million each, which will coverthe districts’ own priority projects.
