First Triathlon Race held in POM

The first event ofthe Papua New GuineaTriathlon Association calendar was held overthe weekend at Ela Beach in Port Moresby.

The course consisted of a 750 meter swim, a 40 kilometer bike ride, and a five kilometer run tothe finish line.

Coming in first for the men was Andrew D andrew uggin of Port Moresby clocking one hour, six minutes and eleven seconds.

“I’m looking forward for the next event so I’ll keep training and hopefullythese events will continue throughoutthe year and try to build a longer distance race atthe end ofthe year so I’m looking forward to keep going”, says Andrew.

First in for the women was Susie Pini also of Port Moresby in a time of one hour and ten minutes.

I think it’s fabulous that such event is encouragingthe local community especiallythe women to participate in be just as strong competitors as men, says Susie.

KK Kingston came out on top inthe team category clocking one hour, eight minutes and twenty seconds.
