Superintendent Perou on Police Attacks

A media conference was called this morning by NCD Police Command on the recent string of attacks by the public on police officers.

NCD Superintendent Operations N’dranou Perou said this has raise alarming concerns by all station commanders inside the nation’s capital.

Perou says the attacks are serious and police will clamp down on all those who are involved.

Police in NCD are now on high alert following four separate attacks in different locations around the city.

All four attacks took place when police officers were on duty, and in pursuit of making arrests on criminal elements.

When briefing the media this morning Superintendent Perou N’dranou said the attacks took place within a span of one week.

Mr N’Dranou said out of the 4 attacks, the 9 mile incident involved a very senior police officer who was attacked and permanently disabled in the left eye.

The other 3 incidents involve mob attacks on police officers by relatives of the wanted person at Tete settlement, Gordons Market and Korobosea.

Mr Perou says this is uncalled for as people are showing no respect for law enforcing officers.

With these attacks, Superintendent Perou is calling on authorities to tighten up on penalties relating to assaulting of police officers.

Few arrests have been made and more will be made soon following police investigations.
