Polye Challenges O’Neill

The member for Kandep and leader of Triumph Heritage Empowerment party Don Polye has challenged Prime Minister Peter O'Neill to run the affairs of the country with professionalism.

Mr. Polye said O'Neill has been continuously defending controversial decisions and denying existence of economic issues raised by professional 'Think Tanks', research bodies and global financial institutions.

Polye said Mr O'Neill should not quickly go on the defensive when such interest groups express professional and independent views to guide him in managing the economy.

He challenged O'Neill to address petty and organized crimes in urban centers to make the environment conducive for investment.

He said he agreed with the Pacific Institute of Public Policy's analysis that the national budget deficit will undoubtedly reach more than K400 million this’Fiscal year.

In the former treasurers words ''We have a PM who is going on a spending-spree and it is difficult to ascertain the sources of funding as use of undisclosed huge sums of money are not part of the budgetary process.”

Mr Polye said it was a great embarrassment to external audiences as PNG is a member of several important regional blocs and international bodies which are worried and closely observing PNG's political decisions.
