Mul Baiyer To Become Food Transportation Hub

Mul Baiyer district in the Western Highlands Province is set to become the center for Agricultural transportation.

The District is set to link up with two other Provinces to increase its income flow.

Local MP, Koi Trappe is pushing for more funding from the National Government to build the roads.

The Mul-Baiyer district of the Western Highlands will be connecting people by separate highways to the Madang and the Enga Province.

It’s a move to make Mul-Baiyer the Agricultural center of the Highlands.

Roads have been build, improved and bridges fixed in Lumusa to link Enga’s Wapenamanda and Kompiam.

“Wherever the district buy machinery, it will stay there and fix the roads,” say Mul-Baiyer MP, Koi Trappe.

It comes in line with the Western Highlands Provincial Governments plans to allow districts services to flow right up to Provincial level.

The move by Mul-Baiyer makes way for more prospects.

“You want to see development, we all want to see development,” said Western Highland Governor, Paius Wingti whist speaking in Baiyer.

The national government is also on board to support the district- a K9 million hospital will be built in Lumusa.

Now, the pressure is on the National Planning department to provide the district with more funding.

Minster for Planning, Charles Able says the roads to Madang and the two districts of the Enga Province will be funded also by the National government.

Development partners together with the district have launched more projects in communication towers, law & order and education.

These are three necessities before foreign investors deem a place safe enough to establish businesses.

Local MP, Koi Trappe, a businessman who owns of one of the largest trucking companies in Papua New guinea, Traisa Transport, says he understands what investors before they make business in an area.
