A delegation from Bougainville, is attending the Our Media conference in Goroka to draw local media attention to the plight of the world’s first climate refugees.

She wants to see better documentation of the impacts of climate change with a local perspective.
While much of the international attention has been on Bougainville, islands communities all over the country are facing similar challenges.
In Madang, government attention to climate change effects has been very limited.
The Our media conference hosted by the University of Goroka, has brought media practitioners from all over the world.
They’ve come with various views and experiences about community media initiatives.
The conference is also shedding light on important issues like gender based violence, sorcery killings and of course climate change.
By Friday, participants will have gathered volumes of information, whether that information will be put to good use remains to be seen.
