"REPENTANCE DAY" – By Bridgette Komatep & Mickey Kavera

The National Day of Repentance or as others prefer to call it, the National Prayer Day, is a time to say sorry for the wrong things we have done or failed to correct.

Forgiveness and working to improve our lives for the better is what many people had to say about the special holiday that was celebrated today.

Children as young as six also participated by coming out to be part of the repentance day acknowledgements.

Theirs was a prayer from all forms of curses upon children around the country.

As leaders of tomorrow, their future must be safeguarded from all forms of evil.

Prayers for release from curses were recited by students from the Twinky Winky International School in Port Moresby.

In general, many felt that while there is room for improvement, divine intervention and prayer, during this day and age is needed to safe guard this country on the whole.

“COURT RULES AGAINST PNGSDP” – By Meredith Kuusa

Prime Minister Peter O&rsquO’Neill has welcomed a ruling by a Singapore Court judge stopping the PNG Sustainable Development Program from drawing money from the Long Term Fund to pay for its operational expenditure.

The court also directed PNGSDP to make available its accounts for State to examine in two weeks.

Mr O&rsquO’Neill said the Long Term Fund is meant to be drawn down for the development of Western province and its people. Not to be drawn down to pay for the upkeep of a few individuals.

The Government maintains PNGSDP is not above the law and must play by the rules.

The judge handed down the decision on Monday in the presence of Attorney General Ano Pala, who flew to Singapore to attend the proceedings.
