Barola Mountain along the Highlands highway has finally received electricity as part of the Henganofi Rural Electrification project.
The once notorious section got lit up on Tuesday afternoon, restoring confidence in safety from the travelling public along the highway.
The opening of the electricity supply into Barola is a good news for many travelling public, as it provides a sense of security while passing through this section of the highway.
Member for Henganofi, Robert Atiyafa, was on hand to officially switch on the power.
The Barola mountain top has been one of the notorious sections along the highway, renowned for armed hold-ups.
Police say the section has been a strategic location used by criminals to prey on the travelling public.
Meanwhile, a rural police post established along the area has paved way for food stalls and coffee shops to be built along the roadside, in an attempt to clamp on criminal activities.
This will assist in keeping young people involved in small business opportunities and having a sense of respect and concern for their customers which are travelling public.
